Icon D30 Armor Replacement Back Insert

Advanced, patented polymer, CE-rated D3O impact protectors are the latest advancement in protective armor.

D3Oimpact protectors utilize intelligent molecules that lock together on impact. Because of this, the impact protector can be made thinner and lighter, making a jacket more comfortable and easier to wear.

Decreased size does not come at the expense of impact protection

D30 Armor Back Pad Insert: Unobtrusive protection
I was looking to add a back protector insert to my street/sport riding jackets and the D30 Level 1 Back Pad Insert looked like a very good, well thought out design/material selection with the features of being thin, flexible and unassuming while providing adequate protection for street/sport riding while being very modestly priced.

I installed the D30 on my Dainese HF D1 jacket (the men's size back pad fitted perfectly into a size 46 jacket) and in my older Z-Custom jacket (trimming a little off the overall width of the pad using an utility knife). The D30 pad is really not noticeable after installation, the flexibility and light weight makes it feel invisible. There is a standing rib pattern that adds to flexibility, lightness and cooling, as well as additional cooling through holes. But note, for my more track oriented gear, I install the higher Level 2 (i.e. Dainese Pro Armor Back Pad).

I'll mention a small negative on the D30: The molding of the pad leaves a thin film (i.e. molding flash) over all of the cooling holes and each hole needs to be trimmed out (I used an X-acto knife to remove the flash). No big deal, just a product of their molding process.

Conclusion: A very good, flexible, comfortable, value priced back pad that is easily modified to fit different jackets. Definitely an upgrade from a simple urethane foam pad.
